NewsGrizzly Bear cancel upcoming showsBrooklyn band Grizzly Bear have cancelled two upcoming shows which were scheduled to take place this weekend. The four-piece will not play either of their planned shows at colleges in Middleton, CT and Bennington, VT due to a passing in the family. They are scheduled to perform at the Coachella Valley Music & Arts Festival on April 29, before heading to Europe where they will kick off a tour on May 11. In addition to Coachella, the band are on the bill for the Sasquatch! and Pitchfork festivals, as well as a slot opening for The Decemberists at the Central Park Summerstage in New York City. They will play: Indio, CA Coachella Music Festival (April 29) George, WA Sasquatch Music Festival (May 26) Chicago, IL Pitchfork Music Festival (July 14) New York, NY Central Park Summerstage (July 16) Belong And Album Leaf Hit The Road Experimental fuzz rockers Belong will be hitting the road this May in support of their 2006 debut, October Language (Carpark). The band will be bringing their brand of dance-rock to the East Coast, kicking off in Tampa, Florida. Joining the band on the road is Sub Pop electronic outfit the Album Leaf. "The Album Leaf shows will be our first outside of New Orleans as a three-piece. When we toured last year with Ariel Pink, we toured as a two-piece because it was the most viable thing for us to do at that time," says Turk Dietrich, one-half of the duo, who tends to a mellotron with a midi controller on stage. "The show is much stronger with the additional instrumentation." In addition to the tour, Belong are set to release a limited-edition LP this summer and have just begun work on their second full-length. The band is aiming for an early 2008 release.
